The flattest city in Italy will move at high altitudes for one week. To elevate Milan a series of appointments to breathe deeply, day after day, from March 12th to the 20th.
"MountCity. Mountains in Milan" is the first edition of the full of events’ festival dedicated to health, safety, sociality and culture. A week of events dedicated to the mountain located in different places of the city: round tables about medicine, safety and social aspects of the mountain, book presentations and free indoor climbing, birdwatching and Nordic walking in the parks.
The event is realized by a group of enthusiasts gathered in the control room of the Milan Hikers Historical Society, sponsored by the City of Milan, the Italian Alpine Club - Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Regional College of Alpine Guides.
The opening on Saturday, March 12th is dedicated to science and safety. In the prestigious Alessi Hall of Palazzo Marino, in Scala Square, will be held in the morning the international summit "The mountain medicine between present and future. An indispensable support to hiking and alpine activities ", organized with the important support of the Italian Auxology Institute.
The following day, at the La Cordata Auditorium in San Vittore street, there will be a several voices’ meeting on "The mountain that includes. Models for social integration and new growth opportunities ".
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, instead, are days dedicated to mountain publishing, with the presentation of several books: "Beyond the summit. Life and challenges of Gabriele Boccalatte and Ninì Pietrasanta ", by Dante Colli; "Christmas’ miracle. Survived 10 hours under an avalanche", with the author Alessio Pezzotta and members of the Mountain Rescue, and "Climbing in the shadow of Monte Rosa", as part of "Mountains for the people of Milan" proposals.
There will also be a space dedicated to the active part of the mountain. Thursday, March 17th at 2:30 pm, at Sempione Park, there will be a free mini course of Nordic Walking proposed by Prowalking, while on Friday 18th let’s climbing at Rock Spot 2 in Pero, the largest climbing gym in Lombardy , where participants will be able to try climbing for free from 6 to 10 pm.
On Sunday 20th in the morning, the MountCity week will end with a birdwatching experience at Sempione Park.
