A classic late summer event that still offers sunny days and many flavors. Trentino prepares feasts for the pastures closing and Primiero launches an invitation to the traditional "Desmontegar Grand Festival". Four days dedicated to folklore, livestock and delicacies, and then you can burn fat with walking and cycling on the Dolomite’s trails.
The event, scheduled from September 24th to the 27th, celebrates the return in town of herds and flocks, animating the valley behind the San Martino Pala mountain Group. A cheerful parade of the "queens of the pastures", adorned with flowers and bells, which is now an opportunity to enjoy a delicious weekend of discovery and active holiday, immersed in mountain rhythms and ladin flavors, between fresh and smoked ricotta cheese, slices of Tosella cheese and bacon, soups and dumplings.
The appointment, which for 16 years has brought to the fore one of the oldest mountain life rites, is always a great success, with the participation of villagers and tourists coming from all over Italy (in 2014 they were 15,000).
Monumental also the Sunday parade which now has more than 500 animals and companions, at the end of a program full of flavor, with guided visits to dairies, food stands, greedy walks, workshops for young cheese makers, markets selling local products, practical demonstrations of milking and more.
Among the delicacies don’t miss, to fully respect the tradition, slices of Tosèla roasted in a pan, even better if tasted in Botìro di Primiero di Malga, a fine butter since the days of the Serenissima, today recognized as a Slow Food Presidium.
Do not miss the hike along the Cheese Route of the Dolomites where taverns and farmhouses court tourists with food, celebrating this year the fresh Primiero cheese that comes straight from the pastures.
If your mouth is already watering, you can take a look at the program of the Dolomite valleys that are already dressed up for festivals and holidays.
Also available vacation packages. The proposal dedicated to Primiero, from Thursday 24th to Sunday, September 27th, shows off a program full of walks, food tastings and workshops.
