Veneto – Dolomites of Belluno, uphill at the Sass de Stria

Walking in Valparola, ‘outdoor museum’ of the Great War

An easy excursion in the Dolomites of Ampezzo, surrounded by an unforgettable landscape. It starts from the ‘Forte Tre Sassi’ museum, a late eighties barracks, to reach the central rocky plateau that offers wonderful views above the ‘SettSass group’, towards Sella and Marmolada. You will be immersed among trenches and tunnels of the Great War.

The itinerary continues to south, toward Sass de Stria (an observation point of Austro-Hungarians Arms), with some narrow but equipped passages. It is not suitable for those who feel dizzy! Going along some little stairs, you will come out to the summit plateau at 2.477 meters above the sea level, towards the Falzarego: one of the most beautiful natural terraces of all Dolomites.

 

Trentino – The beauty of the San Giuliano Lakes

A ring excursion between suggestive basins and ancient alpine farms

The path starts from the small town of Caderzone Terme, in the province of Trento. This itinerary is perfect to every kind of excursionist, including families. The first break is to the wonderful Vacarsa Lake (at 1912 meters ASL), and then reach the ‘Bocchetta dell’Acqua Fredda’ (the highest point). Furthermore, starts the downhill that brings to the San Giuliano Lakes (1970 meters ASL), where is located the namesake mountain hut. To complete your tour, the ring itinerary goes through paths close to small glaciers; while the peaks of Carè Alto Group surround the landscape in front of us. Returning in Caderzone Terme, you will be able to visit the “Museo della Malga”, a place that tells the ancient foreign traditions.

Abruzzo – The Little Tibet

From Campo Imperatore to Campo Pericoli

With this short panoramic itinerary, you will be able to enjoy all beauties of Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga National Park.

It starts from Campo Imperatore, which is a plateau that has a tectonic origin shaped by alluviums and glaciers, located at 1800 meters ASL, in the province of L’Aquila. A very wide plateau, also called ‘the little Tibet’. From here, it goes through the slopes of Monte Portella, until reaching the pass of Monte Aquila (2335 meters ASL), surrounded by a breathtaking view. Thereafter, it turns right towards Monte Aquila-Sella of Corno Grande, crossing the hollow of Campo Pericoli. Continuing the path downhill and keeping the right at the first crossroads, you will arrive at the Garibaldi mountain hut.

Then, it goes on following the path to southwest, going through the hollow of Campo Pericoli, until join the mule track that comes from Pietracamela. Thanks to this mule track, you can quickly reach the historical Passo della Portella (2260 meters ASL). Going beyond the passage, the descent brings at the Passo del Lupo (2156 meters ASL) and after crossing the southern slope of Monte Portella, you will arrive at the square of Campo Imperatore.  

 

Marche – On the track of the ancient Eremo

To the meadows of the Monte Carpegna through the beech forest of Pianacquadio

In Sasso Simone e Simoncello National Park, there are many beautiful itineraries. For example the easy and panoramic trekking, that brings to the ancient Eremo della Madonna del Faggio, going through the majestic beech forest of Pianacquadio and the wide and panoramic meadows of Monte Carpegna (1.415 meters ASL).

It continues along the suggestive Passo del Trabocchino until the Eremo della Madonna del Faggio. It is an ancient building already mentioned in documents of 1200. The excursion lasts a whole day, it is about 8 kilometers long and it has a vertical drop of 300 meters.

Puglia – Gargano, a walk in the time

Get immersed in the nature and archeology between Peschici and Vieste

You will need only 3 hours walk to reach the ancient hills that were inhabited already during the Paleolithic. It is a naturalistic and archeologic trekking that starts from Reghetta (Peschici) and brings you to discover the ‘Ripari Sottoroccia’ (refuges under rocks) dated at the Upper Paleolithic, from 40 thousand to 10 thousand years ago.

You are immersed in the most uncontaminated nature: indeed the only way to reach these places is on walk. Continuing the route to the sea, at the end of the itinerary, you will have the opportunity to visit another archaeologic site: four Tombs Daune hollowed out in the rock. The arrival point is in Sfinalicchio, small village surrounded by a wonderful Mediterranean bush.

 

Calabria – The magic Sila near Catanzaro

Discovering the ‘Valli Cupe’, temple of biodiversity

Natural lakes, canyons, clefts and waterfalls. Calabria is ready to amaze you with its Valli Cupe, close to Sersale, an uncontaminated area easy to reach from Crotone and Catanzaro.

It is the perfect trekking to all enthusiasts of wild nature, and it offers unique shows: creeks, breathtaking canyons such as the ‘Inferno’ and the ‘Milissaro’, the Campanaro waterfall, the clefts and the small ‘waterfalls of Crocchio and Rupe’, majestic monoliths and centuries-old trees like the ‘Gigante Buono’, ‘Giganti di Melitani’ and ‘Cavallopoli’.

All trails are suitable to every kind of excursionists, both for difficulty and tastes: you can find archeologic sites or botanic rarities, ruins of Basilian Monasteries and medieval castles.
