Wolftour is crowd-funding for Abruzzo’s sustainable tourism
THE SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN ABRUZZO

To create routes for tourists and travelers who wish to know the Abruzzo region, rich in beautiful landscapes and ancient cultural and gastronomic traditions.

This is the aim of the crowd-funding promoted by Wolftour, tour operator and travel agency based in Penne (Pescara) and Vacanzattiva!’s partner.

An initiative that aims to spread a new ‘slow tourism’ model: in case of positive result, travelers will be able to visit the Vestina area and the Tirino Valley with no-engine transports: canoeing, horse, donkey, mountain biking, assisted cycling, cross-country skiing and Nordic walking.

Federica Giuliani, Wolftour incoming responsible, explains the initiative: "For the first time we wanted to try a crowd-funding, to try to find not only local funds but also outside of our territorial area; in short, to propose a local project that may be interesting for a wider audience. The identified area is that of a territory that we know very well, particularly rich in nature, history and gastronomy.
The ultimate goal is to spread the ethics of sustainable tourism among tourists, inhabitants and tour operators in the hotel and extra-hotel sector”.

"In detail - continues Giuliani - the project includes: digital and paper mapping of the trail network, creating and laying dedicated signals, sports equipment to be rented in order to experience the region, the creation of a single web portal where to find info and book trips. Lead time? Six months, a year at most".

The project began in June 17, 2016 and it will end on July 27, 2016, after 40 days of online campaign. You can contribute to the initiative with a minimum of 5 Euro and a maximum of 500 Euro, receiving in exchange some rewards, such as mountain biking rental, a canoeing experience on the river Tirino, an overnight stay for two people at B&B and much more.

The total contribution for the project is 10,000 Euro: if the goal will be reached, the project will be realized and supporters rewarded; if not, the supporters will be refunded the amount paid.

Wolftour, with its strong experience in ‘creating networks’ in the tourism sector - as member of the DMC Gran Sasso of Italy, L'Aquila and Terre Vestine, the Local Tourist System of the Gran Sasso and the network of the Travel Anywhere Abruzzo’s businesses - presents itself as candidate to promote a local network of slow and sustainable routes, in the municipalities of the Vestina area (particularly in the towns of Penne, Loreto, Aprutino, Collecorvino, Farindola, Montebello di Bertona) and the Tirino river area (especially Bussi sul Tirino and Capestrano).
